No New Taxes

Coming from a friend, Steven Husak (see his awesome blog here), on FaceBook, this question is posed for Glorious Leader:

During the campaign and at your speech before the joint session of Congress you promised that nobody earning under $250K per year will pay ANY new taxes. Not one cent. Zero.

Since taking office you signed a bill increasing the cigarette tax to pay for children’s health insurance, certainly a noble cause.

Mr. President, tell me exactly how you plan to determine which smokers earn under $250K per year so they will be exempted from this additional tax, so that they will not pay any new taxes. Not one cent. Zero. And will all future taxes such as increases in gasoline taxes, etc. have a mechanism for preventing those earning under $250K per year from having to pay?

We shall patiently await his response.

The revolution is at hand. Will you be a leader or a follower?

  1. DANG ! Wish I’d have tought of that one. Being addicted to cigs for some 35 years (and YES…it IS an addiction), and learning of this, I’ve resolved even more to quit ’em. The thing is, when fellow smokers decide to quit, or scale back on smoking, tax revenue diminishes. Then what will be taxed excessively to make up the difference? Breathing?
